|Why Are You Losing Employees? |
The research is being validated all over the world: The number one reason people leave an employer is they do not feel challenged.
About a year ago in a previous E-memo I pointed to research that indicated the number one reason people leave a company is because they’re bored and they aren’t challenged. In July of 2003, an employment consulting service in Australia said they conducted a survey and found that 44.6 per cent of employers said the number one reason people leave their employ is poor career opportunity.
Continuing our trek around the world, a survey conducted in April (2003) in England found that 40% of respondents said their employer showed no interest in finding out what they want from their careers.
This research destroys the idea that people are lazy.
As quoted in an article on Management-Issues.com, Bill McCarthy, Managing Director of the company that did the survey in England, says, "Today's employees they will stay if they are engaged with an organization. If they are not, employers will see valuable people walk out of the door."
